runControl and runControlStdin (internal/httpd/control.go:22-67) return only ok; the exit code is discarded. Handlers redirect with ?e=msg (issueactions.go:16) whether the cause was 404, 403 or 400. runControlIntoCode exists for one caller and statusForExit (api.go:101) already maps codes.
Remedy: return the code from all four helpers and map it through statusForExit.
