cmc's copy edits, carried from the working tree onto main after !440.
Text only — no markup or behaviour changes beyond the one assertion below.
404.html,bookmarks.html: an em dash becomes a full stop.account.html: the SSH key scope note, the key-scope options, the email note, and both notification notes.admin.html: the index line and the accounts link.dashboard.html: the two queue hints and the empty-state line.settings.html: the default-branch and visibility hints drop, and the git-daemon, required-checks, approvals, CODEOWNERS and dependency hints shorten.
Two things worth a look before merging, both consequences of the text rather than mistakes in it:
- The visibility hint that goes said private repositories answer not found rather than forbidden, in search and on a profile as well. That behaviour is deliberate and not guessable from the radio buttons.
- The git-daemon hint keeps "Public repositories only" but drops "Unauthenticated, unencrypted read access on port 9418", and the dependency hint drops "Checking a private repository tells those registries what it depends on". Both were the reason to think twice before ticking the box.
e2e/dashboard_test.go asserted the old merge-request hint verbatim and
now asserts the new one. Nothing else in the repository asserts any of
these strings; the CLI has its own wording and is untouched.
