Settings › Display › Constellations: draw another culture's figures over the same stars instead of the IAU lines.
- Ten cultures from Stellarium's sky cultures, all CC BY-SA: Chinese (306 figures), Indian, Mongolian, Japanese moon stations, Hawaiian, Māori, Tongan, Boorong, Sámi, Norse. Credits screen lists each with its licence and source link; THIRD_PARTY.org updated.
- Not included: Arabic (all three sets CC BY-ND with permission only for Stellarium), Kamilaroi (CC BY-NC-ND), and the GPL v2 sets (Egyptian, Navajo, Korean, Inuit, Aztec).
scripts/make-skycultures.pyconverts Hipparcos numbers to HR by position (nearest BSC star within 0.05°, Hipparcos V < 7.2 from VizieR I/239) and splits lines at stars fainter than the BSC. Chinese loses 12 of 318 figures and Indian 1 of 28 this way.- Names are drawn at each figure's centre when the view is narrower than 110° (60° for Chinese).
- Credits: also adds CelesTrak, Mars raw images and Spaceflight News API, which were missing.
- Test: every figure uses catalogue stars, every culture is BY-SA, Norse Wolf's Mouth includes Aldebaran.
Review note: the Māori, Hawaiian and Boorong figures are Indigenous knowledge published by Stellarium with the communities' sources cited in each description.md; the app shows them with that credit.
