Adds four layers to the 3D view, each switchable from a layers button (saved per device).

  • Moons: all 21 Library moons, textured where we have maps, with night sides. The Moon (Astronomy Engine) and the Galilean moons (SkyEngine.galileanMoons, new) are at their real positions; the rest are on circular orbits in the planet's equator at an arbitrary phase, and their card says "position illustrative". Distances are log-squeezed in Compressed, true in True scale. Moons appear when the camera is near their planet or one is selected.
  • Dwarf planets: Pluto (engine) and Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, Eris with orbits.
  • Spacecraft: Voyager 1 and 2, Pioneer 10 and 11, New Horizons as red dots with their Horizons paths up to the slider's date.
  • Comets: Halley, Encke and 67P always; a shower's parent while the shower is within a week of peak. Tails point away from the Sun and grow inside 4 AU. Cards give the period, the next (short-period) or last (long-period) perihelion and the shower the debris makes.
  • Meteor showers: within a week of a peak, debris specks along the parent's orbit, densest near 1 AU, and a line in the summary ("Orionids peak in 2 days: Earth is crossing debris from Halley's Comet.").
  • KeplerOrbit (SkyEngine): two-body orbits from JPL SBDB elements, propagated from perihelion. Tested against Horizons: Ceres within 0.003 AU today, Halley within 0.05 AU at the 1986 perihelion and 1 AU today; Encke's next perihelion within 3 days of JPL's 2027-02-10; Halley's path spans q to Q.
  • Labels behind a nearer body's disc are hidden; planet orbits and craft paths hide when zoomed in close.
  • Checked on the simulator: system view with all layers, Jupiter with Io and Europa, Earth with the Moon, Comet Encke card and tail, Pioneer 10 card, Orionids debris.
